5 Holiday Season inspired styling tips you need to use for your next photoshoot! - Propsyland
Jesse Preston

The holiday season, for most, brings a sense of excitement and anticipation (we can smell the annual leave and vacation mode from here), however, as a photographer, it can also seriously be one of the most stressful times of the year.

As 2022 comes to a close, whether your creative juices are dwindling or maybe you just need that extra boost of inspiration to get you across the line, here are 5 styling hacks to use for your next holiday-season-inspired photoshoot!

1. Fake Snow ✦

We'd love a White Christmas but living in Australia, well, it's a bit hard so we opt for fake snow! Doesn't it look magical?

Can't get your hands on some fake snow? No worries. Head down to your local supermarket and pick up a packet desiccated coconut (Who will know? No one will know...except us haha)

Oh, and because we're nice, we will link where we purchased our fake snow here!

2. Hanging Ornaments or Product ✦

Can we get a little commotion for a hanging ornament moment? Our favourited (and most underrated tip).

Grab some fishing line and hang some baubles around, even the product itself. Don't be afraid to explore with a little tinsel or ribbon!

3. Fake Food ✦

The Holiday season is for feasting right? Styling with food can seriously change the game. For those that are budget- savvy, head down to your grocer, grab some festive food favourites and try not to dig in (we mean it, no eating the props people).

If you're looking to spend a little more money on something that lasts a bit longer, fake food is where it's at

Pssst...Here is our favourite fake food supplier!

4. DIY Xmas Present✦

We love an unwrapping/unboxing moment.

Creating a scene using a variety  of box shapes & sizes will be sure to create some visual interest (our block and cube bundle makes for a variety of "box sizes" if you have them handy)

5. Props, Blocks & Plinths ✦

We sound like a broken record but investing in high-quality props is one of the easiest ways to create aesthetically pleasing imagery.

Props that not only look gorgeous, but step in as your scene foundation.

We love our Propsyland blocks so much (I suppose we are a little bias haha) and truely believe they can be magical element to any scene.
