In the world of photography and food styling, creativity has no boundaries. But sometimes, that means neither does the budget. That’s why we’re all about increasing your return on investment by being resourceful, sustainable, and reusing your props in innovative ways. Today, we’ve got a sweet idea that’s sure to boost your creative flow: creating a fake cake stand using our Flower Plinth and Circle Platform Bundle.

Not only will this trick save you money, but it’s also an excellent way to repurpose your props and all the more reason to invest in growing your prop collection.

Keen to be inspired? Let's go...

What You’ll Need

To create your very own fake cake stand, our favourite combo are the following props from our collection:

  • Flower Plinth: This versatile piece provides the perfect base for your cake stand.
  • Circle Platform Bundle: Use these platforms to create tiers and add height to your stand.

Alternatively, you can have a play around with just about any prop in our collection and create your own award-winning combination to shoot with!

Step-by-Step Instructions

Let’s break down the process of creating a stunning fake cake stand that will wow your audience:

Step 1: Gather Your Props

Start by assembling your Flower Plinth and Circle Platform Bundle. Make sure all pieces have been wiped down so they are clean and dust-free, ready for use.

Step 2: Super Glue Time

Place the props on your chosen protected surface. Using a super strong super glue, place them together and press down for a few minutes with your hand or perhaps a heavy book!

Step 3: The Waiting Game

Patiently wait for them to dry! And when I say be patient, I mean it... 24 hours usually does the trick but check on the label of your chosen super glue.

Step 4: Style Your Stand

Once your stand is assembled and most importantly dry, it’s time to style it! Decorate the tiers with your chosen cake, bakery good or donut – whether they're real or fake. Get creative and make it your own!

Pro Tips for a Stunning Fake Cake Stand

Here are a few extra tips to take your fake cake stand to the next level:

  • Add Floral Accents: Incorporate fresh or artificial flowers around the base and tiers for an extra touch of elegance (depending on your type of shoot of course).
  • Use Coordinating Colours: Match the colours of your props to the theme of your shoot for a cohesive look. Our props come in 6 colours so I'm sure we have something for everybody but if not white might be a safe bet!
  • Incorporate Textures: Mix in textured elements like lace, fabric, or greenery to add depth and interest. And no it's not just grandma's that use lace, we love it too!
  • Play with Height: Use props of varying heights on the tiers to create a dynamic and visually appealing arrangement or perhaps stack multiple together to truly elevate your scene!

There you have it!

– a creative and resourceful way to repurpose your Flower Plinth and Circle Platform Bundle into a stunning fake cake stand. Not only does this technique save you money, but it also helps you make the most out of your existing props, boosting both sustainability and creativity in your shoots.
